Sandra Jehu

Our first meet the maker and we’re setting the bar high with Sandra Jehu. Sandra is essential to the running of Cog in all kinds of ways, as well as being the most prolific of makers! She started sewing some years back, in an age when all girls did domestic science at school, and she learnt her craft on her mum’s single stitch hand crank Singer machine! She made clothes for herself and even her own wedding dress and when the children came along, she made hand-sewn patchwork quilts for their beds. And judging by the amount of things she’s made to sell in Cog, we don’t think she’s stopped since! Cushions, draught excluders, aprons, bunting, purses, sleep masks and glasses cases, just to name a few. Though luckily she’s moved onto an electric machine, buys much of her cotton in from Llanrwst and sits at her machine overlooking the Conwy Valley. I’m not sure you could get more local and we couldn’t wish for a better first Meet the Maker.
